Doing Business with the Federal Government: Small and Disadvantaged Contracting Opportunities Webinar serves as an opportunity for small businesses to learn how small, diverse, and disadvantaged businesses can plan, prepare and obtain federal contracting opportunities through the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). Experts from the GSA will share information and answer your questions about the resources available and the particular opportunities stemming from COVID-19.
The Sacramento MBDA Export Center, California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (CalAsian Chamber), and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) partnered together for an informative webinar to educate small and disadvantaged businesses on how to begin doing business with the federal government and the resources available through the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
Sean Ang, TRACE Senior Program Manager at the CalAsian Chamber, served as the moderator for this webinar, and warmly welcomed the audience. Following the welcome remarks, representatives from the Sacramento MBDA Export Center, Saori Choulos, International Business Account Manager, and Cassie Fortes, Program Development Officer, provided a brief introduction to the MBDA services and resources available to minority business enterprises.
Next, Tom Scott, Regional Administrator for the U.S. GSA, provided introductory remarks which included an overview of the GSA inception, mission, and the purpose for the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, especially during COVID-19. Reflecting on his experience as a small business, Scott expressed sincere appreciation for small businesses and his excitement in helping small businesses access opportunities with GSA.
Scott provided kind remarks in introducing his colleague, Pam Smith-Cressel, Small Business Specialist at the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, to present Doing Business with GSA. Discussed topics include an overview of GSA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, the importance of Market Research prior to becoming a schedules supplier, prerequisites of becoming a GSA schedules supplier, and outlining the process to get on a schedule.
